Br Soldier Outreach Receives Grant From Cox Communications.

We will be able to ship care packages to deployed soldiers every quarter thanks to a generous grant from Cox Communications.

We were one of many non-profit groups that received a late Christmas present this year from the telecommunications company, which is based in Atlanta, GA.

This $3,300 grant will enable us to send care packages every three months.

“Cox Communications has always been very supportive of BR Soldier Outreach,” said Christy Smith, founder, and president of BR Soldier Outreach. “They are always the first to step up and say ‘yes’ when we ask for assistance. They’ve given us donations of time, money, resources, and they even donated items for us to put in our care package shipments.”

Cox Communications, Inc. (formerly Cox Broadcasting Corporation, Dimension Cable Services, and Times-Mirror Cable) is an American cable television and home automation business. It is the third-largest cable TV service in the United States, with over 6.5 million customers, including 2.9 million digital cable subscribers and 3.5 million Internet subscribers.

Cox Communications believe it’s good business to be good citizens of the communities that they serve through volunteerism and financial support. Their mission is to connect their customers to the people and things they care about most. And it’s through the combined efforts of the entire organization they can lend a helping hand beyond their local communities.

“Cox Communications is a great partner for us,” added Smith. “They have been with us from the beginning, and we couldn’t do what we do without them.”

Smith said that BR Soldier Outreach will use the grant to purchase personal hygiene items for soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“We’re very excited about this,” said Smith. “This is something that we plan on continuing for years to come. We want to make sure our soldiers are taken care of every three months.”

About BR Soldier Outreach

BR Soldier Outreach is a volunteer organization formed in March 2008. The goals of BR Soldier Outreach are to support deployed soldiers and their families, promote patriotism, and celebrate the sacrifices made by serving military personnel.

Our mission is simple: To provide comfort items from home to our deployed men and women across the globe.

The members of BR Soldier Outreach fully support our troops, men, and women who risk their lives for our freedoms.

“We are committed to making sure they are taken care of while they are deployed,” said Smith.

To date, we have shipped:

13,243 individual care packages

579 bulk boxes, 126,364.33 lbs, and have spent $49,576.26 in postage.

As a 100% volunteer organization, all funds are used to purchase the items.

“We have no overhead, so every dollar goes towards our soldiers,” stated Smith. “And we rely on the kindness of others for all donations.”
