October 2020 News

We hope that everyone is hanging in there as (hopefully), this pandemic winds down. While things may have slowed for schools and businesses, BR Soldier Outreach is still working diligently behind the scenes to ensure that our soldiers deployed overseas still receive their care packages.

Announcements

We are presently looking for our November 2020 Soldier. If you know of someone deployed overseas, from September 2020 to February 2021, please let us know.

You can submit your soldier at https://brsoldieroutreach.com/submitasoldier/

However, we like to pull our soldiers from the BR area that does NOT stop us from sending to ANY deployed serviceman or woman.

Our next shipment will be November 7, 2020, and will be a Christmas theme.

We will be stuffing Christmas stockings.

We could use Christmas stockings, 2 ft artificial Christmas trees, or anything else themed for Christmas.

We are bringing Christmas to our troops overseas!!

We would also like to let you all know about our new drop-off location:

The Plantation Florist,

458 California Ave, Port Allen, LA

Upcoming Events

Volunteer Opportunities

Here are some ways in which you can help:

Care package shipments:

  • Help stuff care packages
  • Making/taping/labeling boxes
  • Preparing packages for UPS delivery
  • Toiletry bags table
  • Counting bags in boxes
  • Labeling boxes with contents
  • Zipping care packages
  • Weighing and measuring packages
  • Breaking down trash

On occasion, a local distributing company calls BRSO to pick up pallets of items for soldiers. When this happens, we need muscles to unload those items from the truck and trailer into the warehouse.

Events

We always have volunteer opportunities at the events we attend. Some of the ways in which you could help are:

  • Working the Booth and Event – With more volunteers to work events, we would expand our reach and do more events.
  • Event Setup/Teardown – Help setup and teardown before and after events.

Administrative Opportunities

  • If you’re more of a clerical person, you could help us:
  • Make copies of brochures and printed materials.
  • Completing customs declaration forms
  • Organizing
  • Wrapping decks of cards

Specialized Opportunities

BR Soldier Outreach is always looking for someone with experience in writing grants for nonprofits. Through these grants, we can offset the increasing price of postage required to ship our care packages overseas.

If you’re interested in volunteering for any of the above-mentioned opportunities or can help in any ways not listed, shoot us an email at christy@brsoldieroutreach.com and we’d love to have you!
